Liverpool Sign

The iconic Liverpool sign is located at the entrance of Liverpool ONE on Thomas Steers Way facing the Hilton Hotel and the Waterfront.
The 14.5 metre sign is visible from The Strand as both local and international visitors head into the city centre, acting as a gateway to enjoy all of the city’s great offerings.
The iconic sign was unveiled in 2022 designed by Liverpool-based Liz Harry and commissioned by Liverpool ONE and Culture Liverpool.
The sign regularly receives bold artistic make-overs from artists from across the region including graphic artist Neil Keating.

A festive look for Christmas 2024
The Liverpool sign has been given a festive makeover to mark the start of Liverpool ONE’s Christmas 2024 season.
Created by West Derby artist Candy Sinclair-Ford with support from Culture Liverpool, the design is inspired by the city’s maritime heritage and dazzle ships, blending bold geometric patterns with playful Christmas elements like wreaths, candy canes, and seasonal characters.
Celebrating Eurovision
During Eurovision in Liverpool, the sign featured the slogan “United by Music” with heart-themed artwork, symbolising unity.
Rebranded for the occasion, it reflected the contest’s origins of bringing Europe together. The colour scheme was inspired by the UK and Ukrainian flags, as the UK hosted on Ukraine’s behalf.
Football Makeover
Football legends Mark Lawrenson and Graham Stuart unveiled the refreshed Liverpool sign in April 2024.
Designed by local artist Claire Pinegar, the artwork celebrates the city’s football heritage, featuring bold patterns and colours inspired by classic Liverpool FC and Everton FC kits.
Celebrating our City
The vibrant, colourful design was created by local artist Neil Keating as a celebration of the city ahead of a busy summer for tourism.
Funded by the Welcome Back Fund—part of a government initiative supported by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)—the project aimed to support the safe return to high streets and help communities build back better after the pandemic.
