Liverpool Christmas Ice Festival at the Pier Head

Running from 13 November until 5 January, the enchanting spectacle features an enormous ice slide, rides, festive food and drink stalls, plus, of course, the ice rink! Liverpool Light Spectacular and Selfie Locations

Be prepared to be amazed by Liverpool Light Spectacular, an awe-inspiring 50-metre LED tunnel of light and music show. The Liverpool Light Spectacular show will entertain young and old alike with some of the most popular Christmas tunes synchronised to the tunnel of lights. Make sure you also snap selfies at the walk-through Christmas Tree on Williamson Square, as well as the neon angel selfie stations on Castle Street and Clayton Square. Christmas Markets

Liverpool’s Christmas Market returns to St George’s Plateau against the backdrop of the magnificent St George’s Hall. Mulled wine and other festive tipples will be served from the Tepee bar, whilst the Windmill Bar and Gin Tin make a welcome return to leave you fuzzy with festive feels. Not forgetting the Ski Lodge with its karaoke cable cars!

The market will be open from Friday 15 November to Monday 23 December.

Royal Albert Dock

The Royal Albert Dock will once again be adorned with light, as the famous red columns are festooned in fairy lights. Albert Dock will light up like you’ve never seen before as they launch their brand-new Christmas lights. Be guided around the inner quay by over one million twinkling lights, illuminating all 86 columns. Discover characters from Liverpool’s coat of arms, Triton and Neptune, and our beloved liver birds Bella and Bertie along the way. The Christmas Pop-up Cinema also returns from 29 November – 8 December. Nothing says Christmas more than snuggling up and watching your favourite festive movies with your loved ones!

Storytime with Santa

The stunning surroundings of Liverpool Town Hall plays host to Father Christmas and his friend Buddy the Elf as they share magical stories and sing a song or two in front of their cosy log fire. Story Time with Santa is so much more than a traditional Christmas Grotto, leaving you and your little ones spellbound as each child shares their Christmas wishes with Santa and receives a special gift. Children and their adults can listen to a story, sing a song and share their Christmas wishes with Santa and Buddy the Elf, with the little ones receiving a gift.

Pantomimes in Liverpool

There’s nothing quite like a panto at Christmas! See the city’s most beloved stars at the city’s best venues. Emmerdale’s Sammy Winward stars in Cinderella at Epstein Theatre, while Radio City’s Leanne Campbell stars in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at M&S Bank Arena. You can also book for pantos at Floral Pavilion, Everyman, Liverpool Empire Theatre – plus one for the grown-ups at Royal Court Theatre!

Blackler’s Santa

Do you remember this giant Father Christmas from Blackler’s department store (1957-1988)? After undergoing a massive transformation last year, he went on display in the Museum of Liverpool’s atrium for the first time in more than 20 years over Christmas 2016. This year he is back again! This special Father Christmas brings back many happy memories for generations of local people.
