Artist call out to design Taylor Swift and music legends themed Tickle the Ivories Piano

1 May

Liverpool ONE is gearing up to celebrate the arrival of global sensation Taylor Swift in the city this summer by inviting local artists to craft a unique ‘Taylor’s piano’ with a paid artist commission to celebrate music legends as part of the annual Tickle the Ivories piano festival.

Tickle the Ivories invites pianists of all skill levels to showcase their talents on pianos scattered throughout Liverpool ONE. Each year, commissioned artists adorn the pianos according to a specific theme.

This year’s theme invites artists to pay homage to both local and international music legends. From pop icons like P!NK and Girls Aloud performing this summer, to the revival of the Mathew Street Festival in August, and Liverpool-born legends such as Cilla Black and The Beatles, artists have the freedom to choose their tribute subjects.

Adding to the excitement surrounding Taylor Swift’s upcoming concert, ‘Taylor’s piano’ will be featured prominently. Artists can draw inspiration from Swift’s iconic hits or her tour for their designs. The selected design will be showcased on a piano placed at the heart of Liverpool ONE in anticipation of Swift’s first performance on 13 June.

This paid commission is a great opportunity for artists to create a piano design inspired by or dedicated to your favourite music legend with links to Liverpool.

Artists are invited to submit one or multiple designs for different musicians, with Liverpool ONE selecting 7 different musicians from all the submissions, including one for Taylor’s Piano.

Designs must be submitted by 9am on Monday 13 May by registered company artists only.
