Make Hotel Chocolat “Crownies” at home!

Monday 25 January 2021

Hotel Chocolat have blessed us with their "Crownies" recipe. Give this a go over lockdown and we guarantee a mood-booster!

When we saw this Hotel Chocolat Crownies recipe doing the rounds, we knew it was something the people of Liverpool needed to know about! Until we can make it back into their gorgeous Peter’s Lane boutique after lockdown, this is all we need to keep our chocolate dreams ticking over.

Here’s how to enjoy your own from home:

200g butter
50g golden caster sugar
100g soft light brown sugar
1 egg
275g plain flour
25g cocoa powder
1tsp baking powder
200g dark chocolate
200g whole roasted hazelnuts

  1. Preheat the oven to 160°C / gas mark 3 and line 2 baking trays with baking paper
  2. Mix the butter and sugar together until pale and fluffy, then beat in the egg
  3. Add the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and stir
  4. Add the chocolate and hazelnuts, then use your hands to bring everything together into a dough
  5. Form 16 balls and place them evenly on the prepared baking tray before pressing them down to a thickness of 1.5cm
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes on the middle shelf of the oven
  7. They should be cooked but still slightly squidgy in the middle and will smell amazing
  8. Serve warm and make the cookies extra cheeky with a scoop of ice cream on top

We can’t wait to try this! If you’re giving this a go, make sure you tag Liverpool ONE and Hotel Chocolat in your posts so we can see, and drool over your creations!
