Get the low-down on the latest fashion trends for Spring Summer 2019. With warmer weather right around the corner, we all have one thing on our mind – fashion. Well maybe holidays too, but mainly fashion. The catwalks have spoken and 2019’s Spring / Summer fashion trends have been announced.
We were in need of a little style pick-me-up for the new season, so we enlisted the help of freelance personal shopper Emily Bull. As her Instagram is adored by thousands of Liverpool women looking for new fashion trends, we knew we were in the right hands. Read on for her stylish suggestions…
The white trainer
First up is a new classic: the chunky white commuter trainer. Although they might’ve been back in style for a while, we’re still rocking them for the warmer months with lighter fabrics and jackets. While still as comfortable as ever, classic white trainers add a touch of the casual, making them the perfect shoe for cool nights out with friends to the cinema as well as shopping. We love Nike’s versatile Air Force 1, found at & Other Stories on South John Street. Dressed up or dressed down, these shoes go with everything – especially the latest blockbuster at Odeon.

The statement skirt
Skirts are a staple of any Spring/Summer wardrobe, and the new floaty patterned skirt is taking the fashion world – and our wardrobes – by storm. New Look on Paradise Street has released a gorgeous zebra print range and we can’t get enough. And there’s a bonus: this skirt also cleverly features the neon trend. This season the focus is on feminine style – plain satin, floral or animal print. Whether you rock a dressed-up or dressed-down look, the flattering cuts cater for all. Pair with heels and a sheer polo neck for dinner at Brown’s, or be a bit braver and pair with the Nike Air Force 1 trainers shown previously.

The leather jacket
The 80’s pop-biker look is back in style thanks to the BBC documentary Bros: After the Screaming Stops. Okay, maybe that’s just what we were hoping. The truth is, the leather jacket is always a staple, and you’ll be pleased that 2019 is no exception. We’re talking leather or faux, belted and colourful from Topshop, classic and rocking from Zara, or loud and lovely from French Connection @ John Lewis & Partners. Pair it with this Zara Polka Dot Dress for the ultimate casual drinks look. Then take yourself and your new look for a cocktail at Aether.

The neutral blazer
Another Spring fashion trend we can’t get enough of is the return of sandy, neutral tones. Simple pieces reign supreme – think COS and ARKET – and most pieces you’ll find in this colour trend are laid-back but tailored. What’s not to love? Head to Topshop at Keys Court and seek out their range of elegant but cool blazers. The light material with a perfect power-dressing shape makes this blazer ideal for work, or for giving a weekend outfit a shade of smart. Wear it with & Other Stories‘ range of raw-hemmed jeans for a more relaxed look, guaranteed to up your cool factor for brunch at Bill’s.
And last but certainly not least: accessories. No Spring/Summer wardrobe is complete without updated extras. A cute cross-body bag from Topshop’s plentiful accessories section has the potential to complete an outfit for any occasion. Emily recommended this Capri buckle cross body bag to go with every outfit we tried on. With a neutral colour, tortoiseshell detailing and a vintage-style gold chain, this bag will travel with you everywhere this summer.

We feel completely sorted now for Spring/Summer 2019. All that’s left is for the sun to come out, which we’re told will be in no time at all! Book in with Emily for a personal shopping appointment by heading over to her Instagram page, or email her.
