Best of Summer

Best of Summer

Though 2017’s summer may not be remembered for its weather, it will be remembered as our favourite yet! We’ve had tons going on at Liverpool ONE this summer and we want to celebrate the best of it. So, join us as we look back on our favourite moments of summer 2017!

1.

Our first favourite moment has to be Tickle! After launching on 7 July for its seventh outing, our famed piano busking festival never fails to bring a smile to shoppers faces. From the old to the young, the professionals to the amateurs, our pianists this year have truly blown us away. Take a peek of a very special performance by Grammy award winner Diana Krall below!

Next up, has to be the Luminarium! This giant, inflatable structure captured the entire city’s imagination. Celebrating 50 Summers of Love, our Luminarium gave visitors the chance to explore a labyrinth of light and live music.

Another family friendly event which we loved was our Summer of Sport! Inspired by the city’s 2022 Commonwealth bid, we transformed Chavasse Park into a sporting paradise. There was a running track, long jump, table tennis, coaching workshops – delivered by the amazing guys at Liverpool John Moores University – and more! Plus, we loved posing on our winners’ podiums.

One of our more recent favourite moments was our Beetles event. We brought three VW Beetles into Liverpool ONE to be spray painted live by a host of talented artists. In celebration of 50 Summers of Love, the artwork on each Beetle was inspired by hit songs from 1967. See them around Liverpool ONE  until mid September!

5.

We’re extremely proud of Chavasse Park. Beautifully maintained by our top team of gardeners, it offers a tranquil space in the heart of the city. This year, it was awarded the green flag award for the fourth year in a row and we couldn’t be more pleased.

We’re proud to live in a city that champions diversity, and that’s why our sixth favourite moment is our LGBT+ exhibition on Thomas Steers Way. Our bright display was in aid of a citywide campaign to make Liverpool the most visibly LGBT+ friendly city in the UK and to promote greater understanding and support.

Finally, we’ve absolutely loved the al fresco dining available this summer. Whether it was on Wahaca’s rooftop garden, Chaorphraya’s terrace, a picnic in our boats, on the park or Green House Steps, we’ve enjoyed eating a ton of delicious dishes in the great outdoors. Thankfully, just because summers over doesn’t mean al fresco dining is too. Here’s to enjoying good food and drink outside whatever the season – cheers!

More to come…

Although summer may be over, that doesn’t mean the good times are. We have  a whole heap of exciting events planned for Autumn/Winter that are sure to go down a storm! Expect incredible shopping and dining deals, more live music, amazing prizes to be won, a cosy Christmas wonderland and more. Keep your eyes peeled!
