7 new dishes to try this month

There’s no denying that there are plenty of new restaurants in Liverpool ONE to dine at, as well as places we’ve loved for many years.

In fact, with so many eateries to choose from, it can be difficult to decide on where to go – especially if you’re keen to try something you’ve not had before.

In this blog, we take at a look at the best new menu offerings from some of your favourite restaurants. So, to discover seven new dishes you should try this month, keep reading.

  1. Wahaca’s poblano pepper enchilada

Wahaca is known for its award-winning street food, offering freshly prepared Mexican dishes including tacos, quesadillas, tostadas, taquitos, burritos, salad bowls and much more. Its small tapas-style dishes are perfect for sharing with friends and family – but did you know the restaurant offers bigger plates too? So, if you’re looking to tuck into something just for yourself, Wahaca has it all.

The newest big plate item to the menu is the poblano pepper enchilada – a filled corn tortilla topped with spiced tomato sauce that’s perfect for vegetarians. It’s packed with flavour inside too. The poblano peppers give the dish a slightly spicy kick and are accompanied by sweetcorn, spinach, green rice and melted cheese. The restaurant also offers a non-vegetarian version which includes grilled chicken.

  1. Bill’s buttermilk chicken burger

Find Bill’s on Thomas Steers Way, the stunning thoroughfare from the Royal Albert Dock into Liverpool ONE. The restaurant is open early for breakfast, offers a broad lunch menu and a selection of dishes suited for dinner. It’s the perfect all-rounder, whether you’re stopping by on your lunch break or looking for somewhere to rest while you’re out shopping.

If you’re visiting Bill’s with an empty stomach, you won’t be disappointed. To satisfy your hunger, check out the buttermilk chicken burger. Served on a fresh sesame bun, the crumbed chicken breast is brimming with flavour and perfectly complemented by a dollop of creamy coleslaw and lashings of chipotle mayonnaise. If you want to make it a little more interesting, you can add a slice of cheese, smashed avocado or smoked streaky bacon for an additional cost. The burger is served up with a portion of fries, and you can find this dish on the lunch menu.

  1. The prime Brazilian pork sausage from Bem Brasil

If you’re a meat lover, you needn’t look any further than Bem Brasil. Located on Hanover Street, the rodizio-style restaurant has a menu boasting an impressive selection of 18 freshly cut barbecued meats. Taste each meat as they’re brought to your table on skewers fresh from the kitchen, and visit the banquet buffet, featuring Brazilian-style stews, street food dishes and fresh vegetables, as many times as you like.

With a broad selection of beef, chicken and pork cuts on offer, it can be tricky to know what to try. If it’s your first visit to Bem Brasil, don’t miss out on sampling the prime Brazilian pork sausage. Slowly grilled to perfection, these sausages are crisp on the outside but succulent and spicy on the inside.

  1. Zizzi’s beef brisket and venison tagliatelle

Situated on The Terrace overlooking Chavasse Park, Zizzi boasts a menu jam-packed with all of your favourite Italian dishes, including flavoursome garlic bread, toasted bruschetta and hand-stretched pizzas. However, one dish that stands out among the rest is the beef brisket and venison tagliatelle – a item that has been recently added to the restaurant’s menu.

Made with flat, ribbon-shaped red pepper-flecked tagliatelle pasta, this dish is the perfect blend of flavours, mixing succulent beef brisket with tender venison meat that has been soaked in red wine and beef dripping ragu sauce. Topped off with fresh bufala mozzarella and crispy sage, this is the perfect choice if you’re after a hearty lunch or you want to go all-out at dinner.

  1. The Blazing Bird marinated jerk chicken from Las Iguanas

Home to fresh, authentic Mexican, Brazilian and Latin American food, you’ll be spoilt for choice at Las Iguanas. Located on The Terrace, the restaurant offers a wide range of dishes, from tasty tapas samplers to your favourites like sizzling fajitas and juicy burgers. But, if you’re keen to treat your tastebuds to something new, you won’t be disappointed by the Blazing Bird marinated jerk chicken.

Dry-rubbed to perfection, you can choose to have your chicken sauced-up with your choice of marinade. If you can handle the heat, perhaps spicy BBQ jerk or flaming hot habanero is for you, or if you’d prefer something cooler, honey peri peri might be a wiser choice. The dish is served up with a side of creamy slaw, as well as a portion of fries or freshly made salad. There is also a gluten-free version available.

  1. A lamb kofta hanging kebab from The Club House

Overlooking the green at Chavasse Park, The Club House offers a laid-back, casual atmosphere. With its pretty wood-cladded exterior, the restaurant provides a unique Hamptons-inspired vibe, while the menu showcases an array of old-style all-American dishes.

On the menu, you’ll find the restaurant’s famous hanging kebabs. There are five different ones to choose from, but it’s the lamb kofta kebab that stands out among the rest. Sink your teeth into the juicy, mint-infused lamb, which is accompanied by a pot of tangy Piri Piri sauce for dipping. The dish is also served up with a generous portion of The Club House’s famous seasoned chips for good measure.

  1. The carbonara pizza from Pizza Express

Situated on The Terrace at Liverpool ONE, Pizza Express is a must for pizza lovers. Using fresh ingredients every day, the restaurant offers a wide variety of authentic Italian-style pizzas, as well as a selection of mouth-watering starters, sides and puddings. An item that has been added to the menu recently is the carbonara pizza. So, if you’re looking for something new and interesting to get your teeth into, Pizza Express is the place to be.

The carbonara pizza has a bechamel base and is topped with a handful of crispy pancetta, creamy mozzarella and flavoursome garlic oil. It’s then baked with a free-range egg in the middle, and finished with a sprinkle of grated Gran Milano cheese and a dusting of fresh parsley.
